Famous Connections -  the Bull at Bottesford, Nottinghamshire

The 17th century Bull has no doubt seen much history in it’s lifetime but it is its connection with Laurel & Hardy that makes it famous. During the 1950’s, Stan’s sister Olga Healey ran the Bull with her husband Bill and it was during the 1952 Christmas season that Stan & Ollie were appearing at the Empire Theatre, Nottingham. Stan took this opportunity to stay with his sister at the Bull and brought Ollie along with him. As you can imagine, chaos ensued as the comedy legends served behind the bar for a while!

Today there are numerous photos around the wall to commemorate this famous connection. The Laurel & Hardy Appreciation Society also hold an annual meeting at the pub
